Sebastian Vettel said that the Red Bull was "fantastic", and praised the team for recovering after a difficult start to the Korean Grand Prix weekend.
Vettel won from Lewis Hamilton by 12 seconds in Yeongam having started the race in second place, with qualifying seeing a non-Red Bull pole for the first time. Vettel said that despite winning the driver's championship last weekend he was pleased to see the team determined to recover in the race, and said that the car improved throughout the grand prix.
"I think it's good to see that the whole team keeps on pushing," Vettel said. "Obviously in terms of preparation wasn't ideal because I think most of us were a bit tipsy after the last race after the Sunday night but I think we clearly deserved that. And now to come here, after a tough Friday and a tough Saturday morning to come back in qualifying, and then in the race the car was fantastic. It was so much fun to drive, the car was getting quicker and quicker."
Vettel said that his only trouble came in the middle of the race when he had to get through a period of graining with his tyres before being able to pick up the pace again.
"When the safety car came, I didn't really need that to be honest, Lewis came closer again and I was struggling a little bit with the tyres but then the car seemed to stabilise and come back and I was able to open a gap just before we had the second pit stop. Then to the end it was just fantastic, I could just push when I had to and obviously I got a little bit of a gap because those guys were fighting."
With Red Bull securing the constructor's championship as a result of a better points haul than McLaren, Vettel also paid tribute to engine partner Renault for its role in the success.
"It's fantastic, after last weekend the driver's championship, this weekend the constructor's championship for the team; fantastic. Also I want to say, especially in particular at this place, a lot of thanks to Renault. They've been pushing so hard and I think we showed as a team a lot of morale after last year when we had the engine failure here. To come back and still win the championship last year and this year faultless from the Renault side. The engine's working fantastically well; we're very competitive on those circuits with long straights like Monza or here again. So all in all the package is fantastic."
