Bruno Senna is not sure where he will end up in 2012 but is confident he will be in a better position than he was at the start of this year.
Senna raced at the final eight grands prix in 2011 as he was drafted in to replace Nick Heidfeld at Renault (soon to be renamed Lotus). However, he will not race for the team next year as Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean have now been confirmed as its drivers. A reserve role is likely with few places remaining on the grid, but Senna said he is not downbeat.
"I don't know yet - I'm still working on next season, but as I said I think it's looking much better than last season at this same time and let's hope we can have good news," he was quoted by the Norwich Advertiser. "It's difficult to say what's going to happen, but I'll always have Lotus in my heart."
He scored just two points in 2011 as Renault struggled for performance towards the end of the year, but said it had been a fantastic experience after his difficult debut season with the struggling HRT team in 2010.
"It has been pretty amazing to be honest," Senna added. "I mean, just to get a real chance in Formula One, and these guys gave me that chance to be in a much better position than I was at this time last year, and even in July. They gave me a great chance to prove what I can do and on quite a few occasions I have been very competitive, so it's good to know that in a competitive car I can turn it out in Formula One and I think I'm looking forward to next year."
