Fernando Alonso says that he has faith in Ferrari after the team unveiled the "different" F2012.
After missing out on the world championship in the final race of his debut season, Alonso suffered a more disappointing year in 2011 as he won only one race and was out of championship contention at an early stage. At the launch of the 2012 car in Maranello, Alonso said that he was still fully motivated to deliver success for the team.
"It looks very different actually from what we've seen in the past two years," Alonso said. "It's the third Ferrari, the third season and I'm going to start with the same strength, force, determination; I really want to do great. It's going to be quite competitive and challenging as a season, but I really want to see red cars always on the podium so always winning. We will start next week in Jerez, we will keep working all together and I'm sure we will do great this year."
While the car is more aggressive as Ferrari looks to close the gap to Red Bull and McLaren, Alonso said he was fully behind the change in philosophy and is prepared to work hard with the team to make it work.
"I really believe in the skills we have here in Ferrari, we always have to be optimistic. We have two months, we will get ready before the first race in Australia but we have to fight for this title and we have to get as many points as possible at every race if we want to win; talking about both the drivers' but also the constructors' championship, we really want to be right at the top of the ranking.
"There's intense work ahead for many months around the world we have to be as consistent and resolute as possible. We have to work with the rest of the team and I'm really sure that we will be able to reach great targets even if I feel this big responsibility of driving a Ferrari."
