Jenson Button says Michael Schumacher's 20 years in Formula One "is very impressive", and hasn't ruled out matching the feat himself.
Schumacher made his debut at Spa-Francorchamps in 1991 for Jordan, although the 20 years since do include three years in retirement after leaving Ferrari. Button himself has been in Formula One since the year 2000, and despite admitting that he didn't see himself racing past his 40th birthday, he did concede that there was a possibility he too could make it to his 20th anniversary.
"This is my 12th year in the sport," Button toldSporting Life. "But 20 years...to be at the top of his game for that long is very impressive. For a driver, with the stresses and pressures that are on you, 20 years is a long time in the sport for anyone. Looking at it I'm only eight years behind. I can't see myself racing when I'm in my 40s, but there is always a possibility."
Button's McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton also praised Schumacher's milestone.
"It is a great achievement for Michael," Hamilton said. "I think it is quite cool he is still here, so good on him."
