Lewis Hamilton is confident his McLaren will be as competitive at the Hungarian Grand Prix as it was at the German Grand Prix after topping the timesheets in Friday practice.
The McLaren driver took his second victory of the season at the Nurburgring a week ago, and after topping second practice at the Hungaroring by 0.241s from Fernando Alonso he is confident of another strong showing.
"It's a great feeling to start the weekend on a high," he said. "We had a much smoother Friday here than we did at the Nurburgring, so I'm pretty happy. The car looks reasonably competitive, given the balance and the fuel load that we had."It's important not to read too much into Fridays, though. The track may be different tomorrow, as may the temperatures. Having said that, I think we've probably got about the same pace as we had in Germany, which is encouraging."
Hamilton was surprised how quick his car was in Germany as it had no major upgrades added after the British Grand Prix. However, there are a couple of new parts on the McLaren this weekend and he is hoping they will continue the team's upward trend.
"The guys have been pushing very, very hard back at the factory," he said. "We've got a couple of upgrades here this weekend and it's a great achievement by everyone to have got them here in such a short space of time."
